The Progressive Christian Alliance of Colorado (PCAC) was formed as a result of a coffee meeting between staff members of St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Highlands Ranch and Montview Presbyterian Church of Denver. Both of our churches had invited some of the same speakers and we wanted to discuss how we might collaborate on some educational events in the future. As we talked, we became excited about the possibility of coming together with others across ecumenical lines to form a more united voice for progressive Christianity in the Denver area and throughout Colorado. So, we began to invite other churches from the metro area and an organization was born.

Our first organizational meeting was held in the summer of 2007 with representatives from St. Andrew United Methodist , Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, Plymouth Congregational, St. John’s Episcopal, Calvary Baptist, University Park United Methodist and the Iliff School of Theology. Since then, we have grown to represent the voices of several other churches and organizations of all sizes.

We decided that our focus would not be political, but educational and to begin by sharing information concerning our major educational events. However, another goal continues to be having a voice for a more open, inclusive Christianity other than what is often experienced by both churched and unchurched alike.
